We finished the season on a winning note on Saturday evening last in Quilty when we had a 1.11 to 9pts victory over St Josephs Doora Barefield.
This victory was effectively confirmed when John Kerin goaled midway through the second half. We had led at half time by 7pts to 3 but St Josephs rattled off 4 points at the start of the second half to erase that lead.
However a point by Brian Considine halted St Josephs comeback and then John Kerin finished brilliantly to the net after some great work by Denis Murphy to work the ball into him.
We had to play three quarters of the game without Dara Blake who sustained a bad arm injury in an accidental clash with a St Josephs player.
On the day Ronan Slattery played well in a generally good defensive unit while upfront Kieran Considine got some good scores from frees and play while Denis Murphy and Joe Considine made solid contributions when they were introduced.
The team and scorers were as follows;
Noel Kilmartin
Shane Canavan Davy McDonagh Michael Foley
Robert Lucas Dara Blake Niall Considine
Brian Considine (0.03) Ronan Slattery
Gerry Considine Alan Clohessy Thomas McDonagh John Considine K Considine(0.08)John Kerin (1.00)
Subs: Denis Murphy for Gerry Considine, Alan Mc Donagh for Dara Blake, Joe Considine for Johnny Considine, Michael Commane for David Mc Donagh.
