We went down to our second defeat in the Cusack Cup today in a game played in terrible conditions in Killimer. A gale force wind & bad underfoot conditions made it very difficult for both teams to play any decent football.
We played with the wind in the first half and after a slow start managed to go in at half time leading by 5pts to 2.
Alan Clohessy and Shane Canavan added two points early in the second half but as the wind strengthened so too did the Gaels grip on the game.
A good point by Alan Clohessy into the teeth of the wind to make the score 8 pts to 6 seemed to have stemmed the Gaels comeback but a goal which looked suspiciously like a square ball finally secured the win for the Gaels.
